The Plan

Medicine is constantly changing, but Weill Cornell Medicine's compassionate, superior patient care is constant. WCM's mission is shaped by three parts: exceptional care, research and education. Weill Cornell Medicine is among the nation's top-ranked medical and graduate schools, striving for excellence in its education of the world's future healthcare leaders. Research by faculty and graduate students at Weill Cornell Medicine is collaborative, groundbreaking and patient-focused.

A key component of the institution’s vision for the future – and an integral part of the We’re Changing Medicine campaign – the new student residence hall will expand the main campus a few blocks north, optimizing the goal of creating a modern space for students to thrive and reach their highest potential. The new student residence hall will celebrate the institution’s three-part mission to care, discover and teach, with features that enhance students’ quality of life, implement the latest technological advances and improve the overall academic experience.

The new student residence hall will be built at 1393 York Avenue. With 16 floors and two cellar levels, the building will include 221 units in a mixture of studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments and will house up to 272 students. The cellar floors will include fitness facilities and a multipurpose activity court. The ground floor will include student meeting spaces and a backyard garden.
